Collect(ive): The Grinnell People's Museum (GPM)
2010, Faulconer Gallery (now Grinnell College Museum of Art), Grinnell, Iowa Over a six month period, we mined a variety of college collections and scanned personal objects to engage the community of Grinnell Iowa in place-based creative art making to give visual form to local personal narratives and interests. The result of this process was embedded in three locations: the Drake Community Library, the Joe Rosenfield '25 Center and the Grinnell College Museum. |
The images on view are of objects owned by Grinnellians of all ages and backgrounds. Each object means something special to someone in the community. Together, they create a collective picture of Grinnell, defined by the artifacts people choose to keep—and share.
